Light in the Darkness

Merry Christmas to all our friends and family who have joined us on this amazing journey. The last few months have been a whirlwind of change for our family. But as we reflect back, each memory leads us back farther and farther and we see a much bigger picture of how God has been working and preparing us for this mission. We usually end up at the same conclusion, “How on earth did we get here?” It can't be anything we have done. Not in our wildest imagination could we have dreamed of the ways God would provide and give us favor. God has guided every step of this journey and we have always prayed for His perfect will to be accomplished in us. Somehow I think Mallory and I both knew we would end up doing full-time ministry together, but only God knew how we’d get there. We think of Mary and Joseph who were just a couple of young kids who God chose to accomplish his plan. There was nothing extraordinary about either of them. It was what God was doing through them that was the special part. Their acceptance and obedience allowed them to be a part of the greatest event in the history of the world. And to our family, this mission to Utah feels SO much bigger than us.

As we stand on December 19, We are in the process of selling our home and I am set to go out to Utah the first week of January to begin my job with Weber County and plug in to the North Davis church plant. For now, Mallory and the girls must stay behind. God has provided a place for them to live and allowance for all of them to finish the school year out at Southside Christian School. We are still dealing with adversities behind the scenes however, don’t you ever tell me MY GOD CAN’T!!

Kaysville Theatre will house the corporate worship of Redemption North Davis

In our previous update we introduced Nathan Brock who is the Lead Pastor of the Redemption North Davis campus. Today I want you all to see the building that will hold worship services for Redemption North Davis. Notice I didn’t say this is the church. A building doesn’t make a church. A building provides a place for the church to gather. As this plant seeks to gain a foothold in the community, it's not the building that will draw people in. It’s people. People will serve other people and build new relationships and invite others over for supper or to a community group. In Acts, God used people to accelerate the growth of the early church and he continues to do that today. The light of truth doesn’t need people, but God chooses to use them. Like Mary and Joseph or the early church apostles we are merely instruments who are following God’s leading. Bringing those who are living in darkness into the light of Christ is what we believe to be one the greatest callings God can appoint. And as Christians he has called us all to do just that.

Please pray for:

  • Completing the sale of our home.

  • Our family during this temporary separation.

  • All the Redemption North Davis team and for the hearts of the lost in the surrounding communities.

Please read: Isaiah 9:2, Psalm 24:3-5
